Yesterday I bought two DVD´s. last night I watched them both.
The first one was Robinhood, 1920, starring Douglas fairbanks a B&W silent film. Excellent! The story line, the acting, the sets, clothes the lot. No CG, just loads of actors and real stunts.
It has stood the test of time.
The other was..............Robin hood 2010.....what a load of S**T!!
The story line....
The so called acting
The clothes and sets...trash. loads of people in it but no actors to be seen.
Not only is the story turned to a complete mess, but there is absolutely no real convincing plot at all. It´s all over the place.
For example; what happened to Richards army in france??
How did the french get across the channel......in boats I hear you say...not with most of the french coast being controlled by the english fleet at the time, and certainly not with 3000 of Richards army roaming about.
Peterborough is NOT in the north of england!!! It´s in the midlands!!
The burnt out village next to the castle under siege (start of this film) turns up later as Barnsdale...in england..but in an unburnt out condition...then gets burnt. It´s the same bloody set up!!
There´s loads of toss in this film, John with his BIG axe (ooooer madam), Russels horse being wet when everyone elses horses are dry...what cliffs are they using at the end of the film??..the film starts with a disclaimer saying at the turn of the 12th century...it´s not it´s the end of the 12th century..the date shown 1198, makes it the turn of the 13th century
folk tunes fron the 17-18 centuries.
