Robins Revenge ? - New Film (now released on DVD/BlueRay) !

Posted by T. Dürrschmidt on 04 May 2010, 22:06

....great....a must see.....even if some visored helmets are a bit "out of time", some shields are made of rubber....a huge WW2like shore invasion......and Russel Crowe seems to have a new German voice.

I will be there Mr. Scott!

Does anyone know if this film will be shown in 3D? :winky:

A new German voice? Oh I get it! They found the one who did the voice of John Wayne

Original version for me ;-)

Looks very good so far! Can't wait! :jumping:

I think that sounds like a perfect day: a delicious breakfast ( with chips ;-) ), a sunny day for making some medieval figures on the balcony (for the medieval mood), and then a little thunderstorm so the cinema (with Robin Hood) is the perfect place to be!! :-)

For the Germans: 13. May is the premiere!

     The timing with the thunderstorm might be difficult but it sounds perfect

What!! Mind you this is "Robin hood - the crusade years" or " How I lost my titel but gained a pair of tights".
If anyone hasn´t heard any of the dialoge that R. Crowe speaks (original version) then they need to take a sick bag with them. It´s not quite antipodian, not quite irish, and not quite northern english. A sort of mix (which wanders all over the place) of a geordie that went to live in Northern ireland and takes long holidays in NewZealand or Australia then drinks a bottle of scotch and tries to do a russian accent. Very odd indeed!

There are theories that pre-Shakespearian English sounded like nowaday's American English anyway.

Hi mates,
just watched "Robin Hood" yesterday at a local cinema.
Short conclusion about what i personally think:

Positive:

- nice battle scene in the first part of the film
- great villain characters
- perfect choose for Robin´s men (Little John,Friar Tuck etc.)
- nice (but typical) Russel Crowe scenes (final showdown)

Negative:

- Sherwood Forest Inhabitants(Kids) fighting at final battle...on ponies...why ?????
- Invasion force using boats like they are on D-Day (Historical correct???-don´t know if these boats were used... )
- final battle using some too much look-a-like scenes from "Saving Private Ryan" (my personal impression)

all in all this is a very nice , good film and a more realistic look at this historical/fictional character than the other films have done - but at first it is real good and great "popcorn-cinema"!
Watch it-enjoy it

Sure a must see!

Anyway my favorite Robin Hood remains the one played by John Cleese in the Time Bandits...

Same about Marion character played by Neil McCarthy (with the bow).
No bad neither the other two in the background, I think they are supposed to be Scarlet and friar Tuck.

watched the movie tonight.
IMO this is a nice dirty hack and slay movie and i tried to forget that this should be a Robin Hood Story. Sorry, i prefer more Errol Flynn as the charming Robin.
Watched as a movie about a story in the middle ages its ok. For a Ridley Scott Work, there are too much "stolen" scenes from other films, like Braveheart, Saving Private Ryan, The Patriot,....
I think its not a must to see but as nice popcorn movie its ok.

I saw it Friday evening. A friend of mine who joined me found it really boring, but I like it. It is a interesting idea, how Robin becomes Robin Hood and there are a lot of great actors. But Old Wolf - you are right. It is not the best R.Scott Movie. So not a "must seen"

Yesterday I bought two DVD´s. last night I watched them both.
The first one was Robinhood, 1920, starring Douglas fairbanks a B&W silent film. Excellent! The story line, the acting, the sets, clothes the lot. No CG, just loads of actors and real stunts.
It has stood the test of time.

The other was..............Robin hood 2010.....what a load of S**T!!
The story line.... The so called acting  The clothes and sets...trash. loads of people in it but no actors to be seen.
Not only is the story turned to a complete mess, but there is absolutely no real convincing plot at all. It´s all over the place.
For example; what happened to Richards army in france??
How did the french get across the channel......in boats I hear you say...not with most of the french coast being controlled by the english fleet at the time, and certainly not with 3000 of Richards army roaming about.
Peterborough is NOT in the north of england!!! It´s in the midlands!!
The burnt out village next to the castle under siege (start of this film) turns up later as Barnsdale...in england..but in an unburnt out condition...then gets burnt. It´s the same bloody set up!!
There´s loads of toss in this film, John with his BIG axe (ooooer madam), Russels horse being wet when everyone elses horses are dry...what cliffs are they using at the end of the film??..the film starts with a disclaimer saying at the turn of the 12th century...it´s not it´s the end of the 12th century..the date shown 1198, makes it the turn of the 13th century  folk tunes fron the 17-18 centuries.
