A bullet of World War II ????

Posted by Carlo Antonio on 25 Apr 2011, 13:39

Hello friends !!

Today, my wife found in the soil of our garden a strange object. In my opinion, it seems a bullet of World War II :shock: . Now I try to clean it ;-)

There are tons of empty cartriges and other artefacts of WWII around my hometown and in the surrounding. Those are remains of one of final fights of WWII in Europe.

I live on the hills of Genoa, Italy.
I started to clean it. I see two numbers, 44 and 39 I think!

44 = 1944
It looks very much like a Mauser rifle bullet, but the 39 could be a 30 and there should be more markings, 4 in total including some R0man numerals.

how is long the brass and the rim ..?
quanto è lungo il bossolo e largo il fondello ( il fondo tondo) ..?
is not a bullet but only a fired brass
questo non è un proiettile ma solo il bossolo sparato di una cartuccia..
but can be a 7.92x57 js german ammo for mauser k98,mg34,mg42 ecc..
look at this from my collection..

similar marking and similar sing near the primer..
