Take stink normal hobby shop paint and add a tiny bit of Future acrylic floor finish to it. What do you get.........???
You try this and then tell me. ;-)

I tried to make some wash in the past with a similar mix - black ink and floor polish and some water; it looks great at the beginning - black ink was in the crevices, but later on some figs big chips of paint started to depart the figure

I guess this is because the wax in floor polish liquid, and this is not a pigment as in colours but solid particles of material when dry (although very thin), so once you break the surface a whole chip falls off

now I'm using artistic oils with fine colour pigment for that purpose; per colour it is not cheap and you must wipe off the excesses with some paper/cloth, but tube of it lasts for a lifetime

Most of you buy it all the time with variable results...which IMHO proves the whole point.
