According the painting competition

Posted by FrankM on 18 Aug 2010, 19:54

Hello,

according my insufficient... ähmm according my terrible english it´s very difficult for me to describe my thema.

I think that the painting competition in the actuell form is nor good or fair.

For example:

In the actuell 3rd round are 2 figures, which - just according my own, subjetive mind! - are much better, than every of the 2 figures of the other round.

In the "(3rd ROUND) Knight Hospitaller vs French Knight, 1415" both figures I find absolutely great.

If I see the other rounds, there are sometimes the some problem for myself.

I think it would be much fair, to take all figures per round in only one voting, with 1 - 3 votes per person (or with 5, 3 and 1 points per vote). At the end there would be one list of points where you can see the points and positions of all figures.

In addittion I think it would be interesting at the end of the year, to make a further competition between the winners of the different competitions.

And now

- what do you think

and not less important

- would it be possible to realize it technical?

Sorry about my problems to translate.

Best regards

Frank

It´s a game, nothing more. A bit of hazard isn´t a problem for me. Competition like these are never really "fair", because taste is strictly individual.

The competition is indeed a game.
All who are in it have to finish there work on time.
Then the first entry goes against the second, the thirth against the fourth and so on.
So you can be lucky or not ;-)

Those are the rules, and we keep them this way :-D

And if you want just against one person, start a duel

What makes sense ?? :rabbit:

That´s why I like duels....one on one, both parties know who they are up against, the "luck" factor is taken out to a greater degree.

Pity that more people don´t do them :( I don´t understand why not....if you´re going to paint the little buggers anyway..add a bit more fun and have a duel with em! :-) :-)

The competition is just for fun, you can't win anything, so don't take it too seriously. It is just to show off some of your work. If you want a serious competition with prizes, go here:

Thanks for your input Frank. :-)

However I don't think a "all in one poll" thing would work because then it's possible some entries get almost all the votes and some none, making it harder to set up new rounds. It would also become chaotic if you need to scroll through 32 pictures and then desciding where your 3-5 votes go to. :-)

At the moment the voting is "spread" over multiple polls in multiple rounds, so you have as many votes as there are polls in that specific round. There are always two entries in one poll so they can be easily compared.

Note: The order in which the entries are ranked is made by the people who join the competition. The first person who sends in an entry will be entry number 1, the second person entry number 2, etc etc. Because nobody knows who (and when) sends in an entry, the entries are randomly ordered. Sometimes the same people or the same kind of entry (for example both entries include a WW2 German soldier) are in one poll, but that's just coincidence.

The competitions and duels are made for people as a stimulation to paint (something new) not as a serious competition with prices. It's all about fun. Of course it's sometimes hard to descide who you vote for but that's part of the fun. :-D People are free to join competitions on other websites, as much as they are free to join the competitions here.
