Here´s a link to a book in e form, :-)
http://www.ebookee.net/Die-schwersten-S ... 64363.html
and on amazon (bit expensive though!)
http://www.amazon.de/Die-schwersten-Ste ... 3879438110

and here (sorry to the rest of ya´ll in german ) a short descrition of the transport modes;

Es gab 2 Ausführungen der "Dicken Berta"

1.
42cm-Gamma-Mörser: 1910 erstes Geschütz einsatzbereit, bis Kriegsende 1918 15 Stück hergestellt, in Teillasten auf 10 Eisenbahnwagen transportiert, 150 t

2.
42cm-M-Gerät: bis Kriegsende 1918 12 Geräte von Krupp hergestellt, Mörser in Räderlafette auf 5 Fahrzeugen transportiert, 42,6 t

Basicaly, it looks as though the gun was brought to the intended place on trains and then built for firing in one position.

There were originally two types of this 'Big Bertha' one was road transportable and the other by train. fired I believe a the shell weighed 830 kg with 200kg of it HE. I have the gun in 15mm scale, I use it on the gaming table.

Hey Guys .....
This is a fantastic Forum ...high skill Level and lot´s of friendly and helpful folks .

The only thing is ...all this great Stuff here confuses me . I point my focus on medieval and Romans , and you make me wanting to do more .... i don´t know what to do next ....WW1 ...AWI ...Wild West ...ACW ...or maybe thinking about WW2.
For me as a German WW2 is :nono: ( only in my Opinion )

Thank you all for Support and Inspiration .

Concentrate on the era you personally like most-that makes painting and maybe building a diorama much more easier.
I personally spent also much time in researching facts about the things i paint ( reading, internet research, old pictures etc.)
and then..paint paint paint :-D
