With Christmas dinners everywhere fast approaching, the age old question of Brussels sprouts comes to the fore.To Eat or not to eat?
If like me you love the little green pearls of goodness vote "natures gold"
If you slip them to the dog at the dinner table vote"devils do do"

Sorry, no vote from me. The traditional holy eve dinner here is "sauere Bratwürste", and on December 25th it is a Goose with Blaukraut.

Traditions vary a bit. Frohe Weihnachten! ;-)

Brussel Sprouts are one of natures most poisonous vegetables. They even clearly indicate this with their nasty bitter taste and yet people keep trying to eat them!?!

Ah, now I understand. Brussels sprouts is "Rosenkohl". OK, I voted FOR Rosenkohl. It´s not my favourite dish, but OK. I served in the army. Since this time I eat nearly everything....our barracks were famous for their bad food.....

Love 'em. Last time I had Christmas dinner in Blighty we cooked them two different ways. I say 'we', but I really mean 'me' because my wife hates them. This year, in sweltering Sydney, it will be 'a cold collation.'

Nay Nay and Thrice Nay

For they are formed from the Devils own tiny Dumplings

For is it not written in the Holy wrtings of Githma the Slightly Retund Chapter 18 verses Sheffield Wednesday

"And the Lord did speak to Githma and sayeth Do not look upon the Sprout, for it is the fruit of Satan and his minions, and he who eateth of such fruit shall be struck down and have no room for Xmas Pud and will have to sleep through the Great Escape on BBC2 at 3.30. And Githma did reply You are right as always Lord ,for he did know that his mum had made some lovely Brandy Butter for the Xmas Pud that year."

The devils dumplings!!!? Just looked em up and it seems they are well healthy , from Wikipedia

They contain good amounts of vitamin A, vitamin C, folic acid and dietary fibre. Moreover, they are believed to protect against colon cancer, due to their containing sinigrin

I think sinigrin is the stuff that produces the gases. It´s considered a sin to blow off at the table but when it happens every one has a grin, hence sini- grin :-)

A definate yes for me to!!!!!! How should that come?

But for the no's. Just try it this way: when the sprouts are boiled, melt some butter and add some sugar, then you put the sprouts in it. You will see that the taste is much better.
Another way to eat them is; the way up here with the sugar and the butter and mix them with potatoes. Add some bacon. Delicious! ;-)

I have one every year because its christmas. :merrychristmas:

I've had my 1 raw, with butter, with sugar, with honey, and with bacon. However, the bottom line is they taste going in same as they smell coming out, but with a little added butter/sugar/honey/bacon. So its a no, I'll still be eating one on Friday, but I'm not wasting space for roast potatoes, yorkshire puds and gravy on fecking sprouts. :P

I prepare and boil them myself when we eat them.
Then I know, I won't taste them two days afterwards.
My wife and son don't like them, but my daughter and I like them.
