Officers Mess

Aaaaaaaaaah

Posted by dykio on 06 Oct 2009, 19:17

Our holliday is over.....

This year we went to Andalusie (in Spain). And not to the horrible Torremolinos and Marbela coast but to the other side.

First stop was the wonderfull city of grenada with its beautiful builidings.
Image

and of course one of the true wonders of the world the ALHAMBRA
Image

This is a close-up of a piece of the walls which are really incredible. If you ever get the chance go and see it because pictures don't do it justice. It is truely a wonder.
Image

And as when we walked trough the city i saw this shop !!! (And yes i bought something..... i just had to)

Image

Next we went to the ALPUJARRES which is the mountain area just before the sierra nevada.
We stayed in a very small village called BUBION
Image
with very small streets.....
Image

From that village whe went hiking in to the mountains
Image

this is at 2200 metres (after about 4 hours walking uphill)
Image

We were a bit unlucky because the whether was a bit unstable so we could not go any higher. Here we were walking through the clouds

Image

After a week walking in the mountains it was time to give are feet some rest and so vamos a la playa.....

Driving to the coast we came trough a giant area which was struck by fire..... This was a very strage place (looked like the "real" mordor) although the picture doesnt really show it
Image

The next stop was in the area of Cabo de Gata which is (normally) one of the driest places in europe. But as some of you might have seen the spanish coast was hit by some very bad wheather and so when whe arrived it was'nt raining but really pouring. So the next picture is a special one because this happens perhaps once every ten years...
Image

But luckily next day the sun was back and whe went to the beaches which were really beautiful although sometimes very hard to get to

Well that was it. It was a fantastic holliday in this beatifull country with very nice and friendly people and we are certainly getting back to this side of Andalusie.

Asta luego (See you later)

Hope you enjoy the pictures

Looks nice there. The toy shop owner looks a bit small. ;-)
What are the carvings made of, ? I mean what type of stone?

I drive with my family on Saturday to Spain.
I visited the Alhambra already many years ago.
Wonderful pictures.

I think the local people will disagree with you on the rain

Nice pics, good looking store, wish we had one like it in my hometown.
