Dismounted French Dragoons

I was gifted some Strelets dismounted French dragoons a while back and have always wanted to paint up a few and get them on my gaming table. There is not much use for these but my collection is at the point now where I can spend time painting figures that won't get much game play. These actually did make an appearance in one Peninsular scenario I played a few months ago, Cacebelos.
Along with the fighting figures, I also did up a few handling the horses, as place markers for where they would have dismounted and can remount, if the game requires. Really more of a skirmish game thing, but they were fun to do.

There is something eerily magical about Strelets minis. I don’t possess any myself but I admire the way you have assembled and based these dismounted dragoons Bill. Your loose style of painting really brings out the best of these figures.

Thanks, k.b. You are right, there is always something a bit off centre about Strelets - I used to not like their figures at all but I have grown fond of their lumpen quality, so full of character.

I don't share k.b.'s enthusiasm about older Strelets figures but these are nicely painted for sure.

Although the original Strelets figures as seen in pictures aren't particularly attractive, your painting has elevated them to another level, as we have become accustomed to, Bill.

Do you remember Marvin, who used to post here? His painted Strelets figures were out of this world fantastic, I loved his painting. They actually inspired me to give them a second look.
