Mithridatic Heavy Infantry

Posted by Konrad on 07 Jul 2023, 19:25

Linear-B is currently making a number of very interesting sets.
I didn't use all of the figs and did not use my paper stickers.
Of course, this is not a real phalanx.
I made a phalanx with 256 figs in 2013.(My god, it's been ten years.)
You can see them here.

Hope you enjoy!

Typically excellent work, Konrad. I particularly like how your painting shows individuals rather than a mass of identical phalangites. The photography highlights the menacing nature of a phalanx, too.

I would be interested in seeing you paint more Mithridatic army figures - it's an attractive subject.

That's great Konrad! I've never bought this set because I remembered that it was near to impossible to add a pike in the hands of these figures, because the hands weren't aligned, is my memory correct ? Did you find it easy, or have you being compelled to retool the figs somehow ?

I agree with donald, fine work on these great phalangite sculpts!

Incidentally, thanks also for the link to your Alexandrian phalanx using HaT figures, all the way back in 2013. Awesome is the only word for this array of 256 finely-painted figures. :yeah:

I had to bend and trick a lot.
But in the end I was satisfied with the poses.

Amazing painted phalangites, Konrad...despite the absence of your nice paper stickers on their shields. ;-)

Agreed, you've really put some menace and movement into these; they look fit to push through my screen. The officer figure with his cape rippling in the wind looks fabulous.

Always a pleasure to see new minis from you Konrad, and for one of my favourite subjects! I want to mix some of these sculpts with the new Seleucid and Ptolemaic minis to make a mixed Diadochi phalanx. Great painting as always!
