In fact the Ancient Greek Construction Workers will be one of my future sets: they will be building wooden ships and working stone for temples and walls.

One of the first things I was learned by professional producers in this business was: never promise a release date
But I am expecting them any moment to be available.
Are you coming to the 3. Dioramica? Schilling Figuren will be there too.

The Crynsminiaturen Ancient Greek Merchant Galley scale 1:72 prototype is finished and ready for silicone moulding.

The mastermodel is made of bass (hull), beech (railings and other details), oak (base), bamboo (oars), cotton (sail), metal wire, soft metal bead-rings and two component putty. The cargo pieces are resin copies of putty sculpts.

The model is designed after a painting on an Attic Greek vase from around 510 BC in the Meermanno-Westreenianum Museum in Den Haag, Nederland. Additional inspiration comes from the deep sea findings of an ancient Greek Merchant Ship in the Romanian territory of the Black Sea.

I did build six galley's, designed and sold by commercial companies. I have no gallery for them but I just fabricated a list for you.

1: Dusek wooden model scale 1:72 of an 5th century Attic trireme based upon the Olympias reconstruction. You can find pictures here: http://bennosfiguresforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=18962&hilit=cryns+trireme&start=180 and its construction can be seen in two previous pages.

2: Aurora Roman Bireme transformed into a Greek bireme. Its a Vintage model from the 1960's and though designed in scale 1:72 its is reduced in size and number of oars. I removed part of the deck and added rowers inside. Though it already has rowing banks. Some pictures can be seen here:

3: Atlantic Greek Galley, a scale 1:72 soft plastic vintage toy from the 1970's, partly Roman in design, partly fictional, I added rowing banks and rowers inside. I removed the ridiculous captains hut. The designer of this ship must have been inspired by Hadrians Column depicting Danube river biremes and especially by a primitive image that is depicted in an Italians 1970 book on the history of seafaring. 6: My most rare ship is a Phoenician merchant galley in scale 1:100. It’s a wooden model kit, from an Italian producer (probably Amati) which I bought from Italy after it was build by the first owner. I removed keel and bottom and added 1:72 scale figurines to it. Its historical correctness is doubtfull but it’s a lovely model. Pictures can be seen in the above links. I own a further two galley models which I have not build yet: the Dusek Greek Bireme and the Heller Roman Bireme which is basically a replica of the Aurora Bireme buth bigger and thus more realistic.

Oh this is your creation? You have no idea how much it inspired me to go ancient with my plan instead of medieval and focus on naval battles. I love every bit of it. I came across this picture and was enamored with the ships. Now that I can see your fully body of work, you have created a truly outstanding little world. I have briefly gone through that long post but will have to go back to read all the comments to gleam what I can from your tips and techniques. the walls you have made are so creative and fun too. Thank you for sharing it all.
