Boer's war British Artillery and Infantry

The artillerymen and guns goes straight from the Strelets box, so not much to say about.

For the infantry bases, I did mixed figures from the Strelets British infantry for the period and some figures from the WW1's Australian Camel Cops set. I know they are not perfectly accurate but I wanted to represent how the British soldier did look late in the war: slouch-hats, bandoliers and khaki trousers. In fact, they were not much different from their Boer enemies.

My earlier postings about the subject can't be seen now, so I'll try to post them here the soonest I can.

You really are the master at mixing figures from different makers so we hardly notice the difference! Next time I expect to see some 28mm and 1/32, but not sure we can spot the difference even then! And, as Aaron, I long for some boers!

As with all your other works, excellent stuff again! I have a box of the Strelets infantry and seeing your efforts makes me want to paint mine (although I'm sure I'll still not get round to it...)! Looking forward to seeing the Boers.

Very good work! It is interesting in Europe that the book of the writer Louis Boussenard, Captain Sasset -Cov, was also popular as in Russia?

What colour's did you use for these uniforms?

Hi Rich…

I do paint with enamel, so the colour reference is from Humbrol.
And not just one shade for every item although one is predominant over the others (50% or more painted with this one, the others share the rest…)

And the brown-black washing coat makes the different shades (that taken straight from the pot could seem too much dissimilar) look closer to each other that they really are.

Hi boys and girls…

I hope you’re all doing well and got through all this with no harm…

I must confess that I’ve been a bit lazy while doing these… Got to rush back to work and try to catch up all the wasted time and between the constant online meetings and the fully wrapped travelling around I had to do these just going straight to the point and trying to make them looking not too bad by just doing the minimum. I haven’t drill barrel holes (I can’t remember the last time I did made my guns just painting the tip black…) and did not made much research about how these Krupp’s did look under Boer service.

But, somehow, I managed to finish them…
I hope the next one’s can come out a little better… Sorry for that…

Well, here you have the finest artillery of the world at the time and, believed or not, the first artillerymen in History to use indirect fire (the gunners didn’t see the targets and direct their fire through forward observers…).
If wasn’t for the racism and the religion, my kind of army those Boers…

This is the impressive gun made by the British to counter the Boer’s Long-Tom’s.

The gun is from Speira and, like everything from them, is quite an impressive model. Strelets and Hat's figures.


A couple of Long Tom’s will follow in a matter of days ... I guess...

As promised, these are my Boer’s Long Tom’s.

One of the models (the one with the barrel`s rear open) comes from Speira. The other, same as figures, from Strelets.
