The Capability Brown reference suggests this is related to landscaping, so is it the upmarket version of BB's home made electric tea strainer static grass aplicator.

The other possibillity I thought of was some sort of hot knife for sculpting foam and creating micro climates but that wouldn't explain the plastic box.

It's a static grass applicator.

The one I now have is an 80mm head (strainer). The static grasses should arrive tomorrow. I think I've ordered enough to last me out considering I don't do that many dioramas.
At least I can keep my farm animals happy now.

Hi FredG,
After use make sure to discharge any remaining electricty from the Applicator. There are two options how to expel it . 1 Touch it to metal so it sparks making it safe to handle.
Or option 2. Get whacked by touching any metal part of it yourself.

Forgetting to discharge it ,I got whacked putting mine away after using it.

What a coincidence, I have just started cutting edge experiments with my ultra magnificent Mk 2 Static Grass Applicator run off the mains and via an upgraded railway transformer with myself wearing a heavy duty helmet and welding mask , thick rubber boots and several layers of Mrs B`s pink washing up gloves. After loading the stuff into place a split second passed, and the applicator sparked into action and bellowed out smoke so is perfect for layering down the burnt remains of a prairie fire.
"A pure magical success!" _ ! ! ! ! ! !

ALL THOUGH

" The burnt out remains of BB`s table top needs replacing, as do the rubber boots that melted and stuck to the floor. The gloves survived it all and without a single singe mark to em . As did BB,who spent the next several hours trying to get his fuzzed out beard to stay down."___ " He failed."

I do discharge the SGA after use BB although it could be handy not to if I need a few thousand volts to keep the old ticker going.

I thought a few sections of dry stone walling could come in handy when basing figures. I found an offer on ebay for 80 pieces for £12.99 (inc postage) which seemed a bargain. I received the package this morning and to me it is a bargain.



This is only six pieces and it makes a sizeable length and has a gate position.



80 pieces is a lot of wall.



Oh! and there was a bonus stack of sacks ( to be revealed at a later date.

These Schilling chappies were on offer for the second time on ebay. As the old guard is a future project I thought I'd add them to the stash. The total cost on ebay was less than just the postage from Schilling so I was very happy with that.



They fit in perfectly with the Zvezda Old Guard set.
