Another round of painted details with these figures !
After many test I've tried one more different method to paint the faces and it will be this method for all the figures of this big project because the result give me satisfaction. Of course you can paint them in a different way and get a great result too, there's not only one answer to this problem.
THE FACE
- base : Vallejo 70860 medium fleshtone
- Wash : Vallejo 70875 beige brown (mixed with 90% of water)
- Drybrush : Vallejo 70955 flat flesh (with a flat brush)
a touch of white Vallejo for the eyes, the black dot and the mouth is made by a Rotring pencil (0.35) It's so easy and fast like this, when you consider how difficult it is to obtain a perfect black dot with a brush... a real nightmare and time consuming.
HAIRS (and mustache, mostly for the Grenadiers with fur hat) come in 4 colors :
- Vallejo black 70950
- Vallejo Burnt Umber 70941 (the most common color)
- Vallejo Black brown 70822
- Vallejo Beige 70917 (for blond people)
I've added a black wash only on the Beige, and a drybrush only for the others colors, completed with a touch of mat varnish on the pencil work, it's not really necessary, but like this the result won't move for sure, it's fixed for ever !!!
THE RIFLE
wood : Vallejo 70846 brown (or Prince August 846 Marron acajou, it's the same)
Metal : Citadel color 61-55 Mithril Silver (or vallejo 70864 natural steel)
The details are underlined in black, no wash and no drybrush for this step.
Right now I'm starting to paint hands with vallejo 70860 medium fleshtone, and it will be completed like the face with a wash and drybrush. It's better to paint hands after painting the rifle.
And after that there's the hat with all the details and the base of the figure to paint to finish this batch of soldiers !
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYBODY !!!
