My Stag Do

Posted by Adam on 29 Jun 2009, 20:04

As some of you may know my other half Emma is attempting to make an honest man out of me after nearly 9 years. I'm not sure how well she has done, but either way we are getting married in August. The long weekend of 19-22nd we went to sunny Sandefjorde in Norway, to have a stag do or bachelor party as some folks call 'em. We have a very good friend Thomas in Norway who just so happens to be the captain of a viking longship so we spent a few days floating around the fjords drinking and generally having fun. Here are a few pics for those of you interested!

A couple of the sunrise, by this point the tequila and pussers rum had almost worked its way out of my system.... almost.

Chilling with me best man. (me; left, him; right).

Me and my buddy Ryan tried to beat the night but didn't quite manage it)

I was going in at some point so I figured if I jumped I'd steal their thunder... although the cold... Its does things to a man... well parts of him.

Mmm perhaps I better stop?

Looks like a great time and a good way to spend Midsummer. And I don't think you had any time over for painting! Long time since I saw any Ringnes, thought they were Danish but I was apparently wrong. Pretty good for a not-so-dark bear. :-D

Been thinking about it... why didn't you dress up as a viking? And drink beer from a drinking horn? :viking:

would have gone well with the setting, fjords, longboat :)

I have done lots of viking dressing up in my time Maurice, on and off boats, and most my mates and the boats crew are non reenactors so this was purely sailing (and drinking) fun! :-D

For what I can tell I see only the manliest of men on the pictures. 8)

Looks like a great weekend. Now where are the 'real' stag night pictures?

Serious now Adam, I hope you had a lot of fun there and that you enjoyed it a lot  Congrats to Emma and you

Is there a possibility you give us the exact date of your marriage? And the rest of the pictures? ;-)

Greetings Peter

My dear Adam,
look at this happy young man on the photos.
You have fun.
You can do whatever you want.
You need not to explain where you're going and where you come from.
And do you want to give up everything?
What for?
A woman?
It is my duty to warn you.:joker:

(But if you really love her,do it .I wish you all the luck in the world.
What would we be without our women)

Your friend Konrad.
Since twenty years married.
Father of three children.
And a lucky man.

Hi Adam,

I have to say, this is by far the most cool idea to make a bachelors party. (in German "Junggesellenabschied"). In Bavaria it is common to wear stupid outfits, go to the pubs and the main person has to achieve embarrassing tasks, like selling condoms to young people, dancing on the table, wearing O.B. in his nose and so on...only bearable with lots of beer....very....

So congratulations and best wishes for your wedding. Halve freedom, double duties.... ;-) (And I know what I am speaking about)....and in a few years.......see picture

Best wishes!

Thomas

 thanks a lot for all your kind thoughts guys, we had an excellent time.

@ Konrad- I feel suitable warned, but we have been together 9 years, it is the point of no return! :help: ... seriously,

@Thomas- fingers crossed Thomas we'll be as lucky as you with two great kids  Stag do's are th esam eover here- fake plastic boobs, lots of alchohol, and usually someone ends up in the cells/crying/missing an eyebrow an dnaked in a town centre somewhere. I decided I was maybe not the kind of person for this (thought most englishmen would disown me)

@Peter, I asked Emmas permission, which 9 years has taught me is the ONLY permission  ...

The wedding is on Friday August 14th, aboard HMS Warrior (only 6 weeks), but the rest of the pictures are best off left alone.
Thanks guys

You know I don't feel so bad refering to you as parsons anymore...it's obvious that certain aspects of prison would suit you just fine.

It looks like y'all had a good time. Congratulations madame.

You mean I'm so hot that you recognise and acknowledge even guys would want a piece? Aw, I'm touched  ......

I heard that kind of stuff off blokes like you before, but 1 day on a ship like that and they are sea sick and weakened from constipation and from fear of peeing over the side in front of other men.

Not sure about the sea sickness, but I've never had any problem with motion sickness...and I spent 8 weeks living in a barracks that didn't have stalls in the bathroom...however yur instincts are correct.

I would have been white knuckle terrorfied as soon I couldn't see the shore (probably before that)...I have a serious phobia about the sea, deep water or whatever and boats. Don't know where it came from exactly, but I'd rather be tied to the wing of plane than go first class on a cruise ship.

I once did a viking boat trip from Isle of Man to Ireland for a reenactment...It was bloody cold and wet...and jumping into the sea to charge up the beach......Never again
