Hello I would like to get some information about the Gallic / Civil War archers (Roman archer). What kind of helmet, armor, etc. If some of you would have a picture I would be really grateful. Regards Olli
The romans used cretan and syrian archers (in Caesars "de bello gallico" it is said that he used them during the gallic war together with balearic slingers). I would say/guess that they were dressed with a simple tunic, maybe some chainmail. Unfortunately I don´t have any pictures to proof it.
Well, I´m not sure if they really fit to the time of Caesar and Octavian... I think these look good: http://www.primaryhomeworkhelp.co.uk/ro ... aries.html Just with montefortino-helmet (or even completely without helmet) and very important without cingulum on the belts. But as I said: It is just my "opinion". I´m not 10% sure.
Thanks for the answer. I'm trying to sculpting/convert a "Caesar's" archers. You had a lot of help, because I could not be sure what they looked like. Now I got two expert opinion , and I trust your opinion. Let's start a transformation.
