Barça wins the Champions League!

Posted by rpardo on 28 May 2009, 10:00

From the New York Times
"Patience, flair and a brilliant game of keep-away prevailed over force Wednesday night when Barcelona dominated Manchester United, 2-0, to win the European Champions League title, Europe’s most prestigious club soccer tournament
Barcelona controlled the ball for long stretches with its unhurried and clever passing, attacked incessantly, held tight with a patchwork defense and made a tactical switch at forward, placing Lionel Messi as a central striker and shifting Samuel Eto’o to the right wing. Eventually, Messi drifted into midfield to secure possession. Both he and Eto’o delivered goals as Barcelona won its third European title and second in four years."

Hola Rafa,

Being English I wanted United to win simply for the flag. BUt I must admit to my club allegiance coming through at the end and I found it funny watching all those gutted Manchester United fans and players.
Being a West Ham fan I am used to disappointment so a good dose of reality for the Mancs was in order.

Barca were superb.

I haven't heard (or read on the web) any Englishman admit to supporting Man United...they seem to be universally hated...for their front-running fans. Well, where are these fans...they must not have computers.

 That guy in the middle is Edwin van der Sar, one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Played for the Dutch National team for many years.

But congrats Barca, despite the overwhelming presence of English clubs in the CL, a non-english club won

Being english and living in germany I keep getting asked "which team do you support" and when they get the answer, "don´t even like football" there´s about 2-3 second of utter disbelief written all over their faces, before the usuall, "what not even Manchester?" (I aint even got a telly cos 99.99% of what´s on is crap!)

Im a football fan and Champions League is the best what football could has!
Anyway, I don't support Barca or Man U, I support Real Madrid FC, but It has to be said that Barca... has destroyed Man U. Somethimes it looked like a training- Barca was attaking, and Man U was traing to take the ball. They show briliant skils and ability to hold the ball and pass on small space.

Ech.. next final in next year....

Hmm, nowadays I prefer UEFA Cup, more variety in clubs, much unlike the Champions League which is dominated by the same clubs each year, and the football is also better, more attractive to watch :)

Hi
I really support Real Madrid ;-) and I don't like Barça very much, but guys, they played this season like angels!
I hope that next year, Real Madrid will make the things more difficult to Barça.
¡Hala Madrid!

@rpardo I must agree with You. Barca has played this season marvelous... and they deserved for all those trophies. But Florentino Perez is coming back to Real and i belive that he will rebuild this team. He promissed that he will buy Cristiano R. Kaka, F. Riberry.... most of people dosnt belive him but... who did believe 9 years ago when he said that he will buy Figo, Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidan or David Beckham... ? He did it!

I know that players is not everything but he has to build a team from the begining... It is need to say 'goodbay' to some players without any discusion.

Im waiting for the Real Madrid's glory!
