Hello friends!

At the beginning of the year 2015 I would like to offer you a project at Bennos Forum:

The “Bennos Figures Forum Famous Waterloo Project” (BFFFWP)

This year, I guess you all know, on the 18th June is the 200th anniversary of the battle of Waterloo. And therefore I like to build a special kind of diorama representing or better symbolising the historical place in Belgium.

Of course I would do this with different figures, but - most important - with all of you who like to take part.

My idea is to represent the different armys, nations, and different armed services with figures from different manufacturers, that are important for our hobby – like some kind of an overview. Therefore it is regardless if the figures are the best for a topic, but if they are important or significant in one way or another.

To develop the project, I have made a list and mentioned all the figures I would like to use for the diorama. In some cases it is a special figure in a set. Sometimes not. The selection is personally, of course, but I hope it is also valid for some of you, who like to join the project. The most popular plastic figure companies are part of the selection. Also some 1/72 tin figure producers. I know there are much more, but I think the selected ones are popular and well known. They are producing figures in 1/72 scale and those fit for the final stage of the Napoleonic Wars.

Important for me was also to use figures of companies who are active in the forum like Germania-Figuren, Hagen Miniatures, Schilling-Figuren and Fredericus-Rex. Unfortunately in this special case: Not all of them made figures representing the time of 1815. But I would like to buy and use other things from their ranges to present them in the BFFFWP, e.g. for the groundwork.

So what is the plan? Please choose one or more figures, you would like to paint. Then send me a PM so that I can coordinate the project. I will give actual updates which figures are free to paint. After you have painted the figure(s) send them to me and I start to build the diorama.

My aim is to present the result at the FIGZ in Arnheim for the first time. A special thing for all the friends who are there. Finally on the day of the anniversary, the 18th June, I will post pictures in the forum.

For all of you who are far away ans could not come to the FIGZ in Arnhem: Think about the possibility to show your work in this way...

So please send me your figures till the end of April. I will Need the time to finish everything.

MABO I must admit this is very interesting to me. Question - if painted and submitted how would you like them? Painted only/Painted and based/painted and cut from base? Does it actually matter since this will be such a large undertaking?

I hope a lot of members will join this project. It can't be to hard to paint one or more figures for this Waterloo/FIGZ project. Never before we did something like this, so now is the moment!

For myself I have taken one figure of the Prussian army, and updated the list. After that I will have a look what is open to pick another one (or more). Now let see what we can get finished before the last week of April!

Meaning is that we keep this topic as clean as possible, so that Jan not looses the overview of this project. So from time to time there will be post deleted. An example: When you let Jan know here that you will paint that or that unit, the list will be updated in one of the three head posts, and your post will be deleted by one of the moderators.

Maybe some pictures when a figure is done for the project? I think a separate topic would be a good idea. One for all of them should be best: Pictures "The “Bennos Figures Forum Famous Waterloo Project” (BFFFWP)".

thanks for your support. I hope as well that we can assemble the figures for Waterloo.

First of all: For one unit only one single figure is necessary. So if you like a unit or a special set you would like to prepare. Only one figure not the whole box.

In the description I have sometimes pointed out which one. That is for some reasons personal but I also have in mind that we have a variation in the poses. Not only shooting, marching etc. And for the French Old Guard I choose the wanting pose because they have to wait for a long time that day as the final reserve. That is the reason why I have written some more or less precise descriptions for the figures.

The bases: I think it would be best to have them only with the normal base they have. There is no need for a special work on the base because I will fix them in the ground, so the base will disappear.

@Peter: I think it would be helpful if you or another moderator would add and advice which figure every participant had chosen. So one can see the figures still free. I will start with the Kings German Legion 2.Light, from Art-Miniaturen. This set is in my collection and on the other hand no longer available.

I hope to get a lot of entries.

Finding the Battle Plan I just Posted,and now seeing this Project, it might help too in a small way because it goes together in a puzzle like way. I have lots of figures painted and Based,so no good for your purpose,however I do have others that you have listed part painted, but no metal ones. I`ll let the good painters send in first ,and then if you are stuck for any that I can finish off,I would love to take part and send them on.Are there going to be small type buildings on your Diorama? Very short notice to design and down size & scratch build some now,but not impossible.



By the way the problem with the Strange Horse by Italeri with its broken ankle to its back leg I solved months ago,in my Topic on Tutorials:How to Create Cavalry Regiments. There is no cutting involved for those interested in taking a look. It is not perfect but now it can be used along with the others. BB

I have Italeri British Infantry 1815 so I can do that and I have 95th Rifles but from Italeri.

I think it is best that everyone says what figure/unit he wants to paint. And if you are planning to paint more as one, then wait for sending them at Jan untill the last week of April.

@Dalibor: do you sign in for the British infantry? And maybe for one of the kneeling rifles? Maybe I take the two kneeling of teh Revell set. Then he has them all four. Oh and please do give me some help with updating the main posts of this topic.

@Jan: it might be that you get some more figures as you asked for. Is that a problem for your diorama?

I suggest that if everybody are sending one to 4 figures, everybody is sending it by a letter...Post costs for letters are minimums...I think 20 figures can fit nicely into a big envelope...

Please do not sent more than one figure of each kind. The character of the diorama idea is that the units or armed services are represented by only one single figure each! On the other hand I am unable to handle a dio with more figures than mentioned on my list. (@BB no massed formations, please. I have only a small room for the hobby )

Also I have chosen a wide variety of companies and manufacturers. This means it is also "important" (a diorama is not important, I know ) that you take the figures from the companies in the list, otherwise I think there are not all companies represented. So the 95th Rifles should be, please, the ones from Revell and not from Italeri.

Remco is thinking about a figure from the Netherland contingent as far as the secret service has told me. Further details when I have them.
