My soundtrack for the afternoon.

I've moved this over from the other thread because it really doesn't belong there and I know benno get's tired of moving my posts around.

"Burnside"...That's the late great R.L. Burnside.

Up next, Hound Dog Taylor.

Hey, you like Blues music? Me too. I've got 3 CDs of Hound Dog Taylor but I saw him playing live for the first time. Thank You.

I like R.L. Burnside, too. Never heard of him before.

Last CD I bought was Kenny Wayne Sheperds "10 Days Out". He's playing together with all this living legends of the blues. One of my favourite album of the last years.

PS: Maiden rocks!

Indeed they do. One of my favorite bands of all time. I love how so many of their songs are about history or mythology or things like that.

:-D New to this forum, but I just had to join when I saw my old heroes here. Discovered Hound Dog back in 1980 and met both Ted Harvey and Brewer Phillips during the 1990s. Saw Burnside back in 1988 with just an acoustic guitar, was really great. I don't think I will have the courage to show my toysoldiers here though. You are much better than I ever have been and I think I'm too lazy to do all the marvelous work you do. And thanks again for the music efb, and congratulations to the young one!

Welcome Suso,

Taylor is about as good as it gets with the slide guitar...although you've gotta give it to JB Hutto too and of course Elmore James. I've got a CD around here of Brewer Phillips and Ted Harvey playing with Cub Coda in 1990's...It's outrageous. Did you meet them at a show?

Holger we'll have more Burnside on the soundtrack. You can bet on that.

Ted Harvey was here with Jimmy Rogers (Muddy Waters old rhythm guitarist) and Brewer was here playing with a Swedish band called Hjalmar King's. Hjalmar sounds like Hound Dog when they have JUST the right amount of "drinkable inspiration" inside. To little it's boring, too much it can be ONE song that goes on for as long as it does until someone turns the amplifiers off. :guitar:

It's Saturday again...

This is a studio version of the song, unfortunately, dubbed over a blistering live version for the old TNT show. It's still an outrageous song.

Those are the kinds of songs I grew up listening to...my Daddy's favorites (a lot of my Moma's surf records too). Now there some of my favorites too.

Of course, it wasn't all soul, r&b and blues for me....somewhere along the line last night we had a change in DJs.

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/LK0CJqMK6f0"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/LK0CJqMK6f0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

Until Steve Malkmus picked up a g'itar and before I found a copy of Grotesque....there was nobody better. Of course there were a lot of people with better hygiene but no better band as far as the 15 year old efb was concerned.

Another of my all time favorites made a strong appearance lastnight and into to today.

(This is actually what I've been listening to while I paint...that MP3 player's gonna be the deaf of me.)

You can blame/or thank a buddy of mine for this weekend's theme. A discussion we had recently (and some hoopla last week over the killing of a couple of red squirrels) has sparked one of my annual obsessions. Every year something triggers it and for a month or so I won't listen to much else.

Behold...The mighty FaLL.

<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/fejG4c3XVA4&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/fejG4c3XVA4&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>

As far as "bands" go there's the Fall and everybody else (with Pavement and My Bloody Valentine recieving awards for participation)...and they're versitile. Not only will they provide today's soundtrack for painting but, for picking up sticks as well...gotta get the back yard into pre-storm shape.

Enjoy... .

There's an idea for a vignette in there for somebody on the forum...maybe somebody who has more than the occasional pint on the weekend.
