Rarest 1/72nd figure sets

On my local on-line auction house (TradeMe), someone is selling a large number of 7 year war sets, but he wants outragous amounts for them. NZ$40 opening bids for the Austrian Artillery sets (or $50 for a "buy them now"). Same for the Dragoons but only $25 for the Austrian infantry.

I recently paid (with post etc) nearly 50€ for Revells Preatorians in the original box, NZ$40 sounds about right. Just goes to show how ìnsane´our hobby can get.

I have the Dragoons, but I cut them up for very bad conversions They weren't rare at the time though.

That's outrageous My local store down town here has them for under $10 US

Perhaps you could purchase the swedish Dragoons from Svezda (GNW period) ??
New product so price will be surely cheaper.

You will have only just to do a few conversions...

Moreover, Revell Dragoons are not bad but Zvesda Dragoons are even better.

PS : take a look also to the new "swedish napoleonic cavalry" from Hät.
You would have hussars in mirliton.
Revell SYW Hussars boxes are now sold at really prohibitive prices.

Perhaps you could purchase the swedish Dragoons from Svezda (GNW period) ??

I always wondered how would be the strelets figures, when painted.
Are they difficult to paint ?
They seem to be when we look at them, unpainted...

I think the strelets figs paint up nicely, I just dont think that they clean up that well always seems to be quite a few ragged edges after cleaning even if I use a fresh scalpel or hot needle

Anyway, the 7YW Austrian Dragoons are still available here and there. Martin for example still has a set, for only € 10,00 (it says 3 sets on his website, but I know for a fact that he has only 1 left, as I bought the other 2 ):

Working on a box of their Normans now, and they have hardly any cleaning up to do, little excess plastic here and there, but that's it, and I like the sculpting a lot better then those Normans by Revell...

The pictures are great but, really, Zvezda Dragoons seem more easy to paint (and more enjoying..).

You are right, Revell Hussars are much more difficult to get than Dragoons.

Fortunately, I have 4 or 5 boxes of them...
In fact, only some few more boxes of artillery are missing I think...

Pretty easy to paint, I'll get some pictues done in a day or two. Some of the horse furniture gets kind of deformed where it was attached to the sprue though. Strelets horse are never very good at the best of times - I might get some 1806 Prussians to use for remounts next time

Yes, pictures of these and the Prussian are posted on the 'Work in Progress' page here. The white uniforms are difficult to shade, and the camera flash hides most of it anyway

Well it´s probably due to my old age

I've got most of old Airfix sets, but also most of the rare and discontinued Spanish manufacturer EKO figures (see in PSR), and the very good medieval figures from a french manufacturer of a french hero film series called .... cannot remember the name (but see also a review in PSR)

last time I told what I paid for it,everybody was quite shocked.
but I only saw it once and unfortunately my set is not identical with the one on PSR
(milky color and 2 figurines are different)
