Napoleonic books and movies

So I'm currently on one of my Nappy kicks, painting various figures, both 1/72 as well as Slaughterloo, looking at related rule sets, etc.
Finshed Herold's Age of Napoleon, currrently reading Magenschab's Andreas Hofer. Watched several Sharpe episodes - the first two are ok, then it gets a little goofy - gave up on the Cornwell books, they are simply not very well written.
Tried Doyle's Brigadier Gerard, wasn't my thing.
Have War and Peace - the Audrey Hepburn version - and Dino de Laurentiis' Waterloo.
Any other suggestions?

I'd recommend that you read Seven Men of Gascony by RF Delderfield. Gives a good account of the life of the common infantryman in Napoleon's army.

The Hepburn-version of war and peace is nice , e.g. the cavalry attack at Borodino. In the 90´s the BBC made a 7 1/2 hour version (five episodes) with young Anthony Hopkins. Much nearer to the original ... In 2008 german and austrian tv also made a four part series, but afaik it´s only available in german language.
Sharpe is nice to see, but one shouldn´t rely on details - they never got british infantry uniforms right
French tv made a biography about Napoleon (four parts) starring Christian Clavier - yes, Asterix
If you are also interested in maritime warfare, then Horatio Hornblower is a must - the novels by C.S. Forrester as well as the hollywood-movie and the BBC series.

My corrent reading is 1812 by Adam Zamoyski - a history of the russian campaign. and Alexandre Dumas (Three Musketeers, Monte Christo etc.) wrote a nice biography.

Problem with European movies & TV series is that I don't have a region-free DVD player/TV, so if it's not available in NTSC format, that's a no-go, regardless of language..
I do have an old off-brand DVD player that, somewhat mysteriously, can play region 2 DVDs in black and white and with distorted sound.
I remember watching some of the Hornblower episodes, not bad, maybe slightly more realistic than Sharpe.
The book series is pretty much endless, iirc.
As for rules sets, my local gaming group likes Napoleon's Battles, but they are currently totally wrapped up in FoW, nothing Napoleonic going on there.....
I enjoy the Slaughterloo system, it's a little simplistic, but very playable, reasonably realistic and the fantasy elements are easily left out.
Also looking at Vive L'Empereur - seems complicated so far - and a reprint of the classic Paddy Griffith's Napoleonic Wargaming for Fun.
Fun is good.
I like fun.
Painting some Dog Jäger (S'loo Austrians) and Hät HO/OO French Elites and looking for nice reference pictures of British Lifeguards for my next project.....
