Figure a World 2014 & further work on Perry Boney

Posted by Seb Palmer on 21 Jul 2014, 22:34

Hi

I've been working on Alan Perry's beautiful Bonaparte Crossing The Alps figure, after David's famous painting(s).

The bracketed 's' is there because David did five versions of this fabulous picture. I'm working primarily from the Belvedere version.

The figure is mostly painted, and I'm now working on the base. I'm concerned over a few things, like varnish/lacquer. Perhaps some of you guys (and girls?) could help?

Anyway, I hope some of you might like what I'm doing:

As well as the work I'm doing on the miniature, there are a few pics from Figure World, where I bought a wooden display base for the project.

Cheers

There is no picture posted Seb,so I`ll just post this one. Picture is in Public Domain. However individual pixels making up the plane might be protected by copyright. BB

I use tinypic Seb. It is FREE and easy to use. All you have to do is register what name you wish to use and password. Then find Browse, click on that and it will anable you to go to your Photo Gallery. Once there pick your file and double click your photo or picture you wish to place , and press download on tinypic. Picture is placed there, and now look to the left of the screen and you will see a list displayed there. You need to left click on your mouse, and then right click to copy your picture on IMG code for Forums. Then go to the Benno`s Figure Forum , click onto Full Editor ,or open a new Topic. Once there left click and then right click onto paste, and your picture code will instantly arrive. Then go to preview to view it. The rest is simple you can save whatever your topic is or submit it.
I struggled with this area of posting pictures onto Forums and so remember just how frustrating it can be. So I hope this will be a help for you Seb.
I noticed you did not bother with placing the names on the rock`s as the artist did in all his paintings. BB

Thanks David for putting the pic up.

Thanks BB, that's exactly the kind of step-by-step help I'm in need of! I'll give it a try on my next post.

I thought about carving the names in the rocks, and decided there was too great a risk of my screwing it up. If I ever do this figure again - and I might, as it's the first time I've ever done this kind of thing - then I might have a go...

cheers

Seb, you are most welcome,to the help, and I guess others who might visit the Forum might now consider becoming members if they too have a wish to place their own work here, but have found it to be difficult to comprehend. One must consider the fact however that pictures placed will go public on the Internet and others can download your pictures which you might have copyright on. For instance Google,"Pictures of British Square at the battle of waterloo, or Scots greys at waterloo," and you will see some of my own pictures which I placed on the Forum with a link to the Topic on Benno`s Figure Forum. Lots of other nice stuff from other model Forums can be seen too. So if people have copyright issues to do with their pictures or work, think well on it before posting.
This is just a helpful guide. OK? BB

Seb

My pleasure -for the know how.

All

A forum is a sharing community so it flies in the face of the spirit of the thing to limit access and most modeller's are happy to give a wider audience to their work. I don't think there is any issue with copyright it was just a case of using Flickr's default sharing setting -curvy arrow bottom right.

BTW you can put tags on digital photos which are difficult to remove and these tags show ownership etc and some expensive cameras do it automatically with a gps place signature as well. Photoshop etc can read and display this extraneous info which takes up space on the file but then you can get metadata (posh name) removers for free. Flickr uses tags or metadata for organising and searches.
