FIGZ 2021 Cancelled

Posted by steve_pickstock on 12 Apr 2021, 01:43

The Slag om Grolle was also postponed until next year, much to our disappointment. However it was suggested that we hold a Zoom meeting on the Saturday night, perhaps you could do one on the same weekend as Figs.

I would join a Zoom mtg. None of you have ever heard my voice.

Not bad idea at all... zoom exhibition. Any participant should bring one of his (finished) work.
Is there anyone whom could be interested in something like that?

I thought about suggesting zoom, teams, skype, messenger, whatever meeting. Could be fun. Not many have heard my voice either. Well, one, and he's never been the same since. :xd:

A second thought. We are in different time zones. Could be tricky with work etc. And I think Zoom costs money after a certain amount of time. I think 40 minutes or something like that. This is just so you don't have to hear my voice of course!

Zoom or other can be a good idea. Nevertheless, the success of such a virtual event mainly depends on preparation. You need prepared topics, separate "rooms" for different discussions or even games or "bring and show", etc.
In other words, this could be great of we had a prep comittee who has some know-how to organize such a thing
I say this, but I am not very knowledgeable here - not an expert in event management

I like the idea, but like said timedifferents, and family things can desturb it.
I had tought about painting together with a webcam like this, but it sounds much more easy like it is.
Even had a idia to organize a weekend together for guys who live not to far away, then hire a bungalow and have fun over the weekend.
But it always sounds easy, but to organize....

Maybe it shouldn't be so formal.... more like cup of coffee/tea/beer in friendly company.

Yes, I didn't mean do a whole event remotely, but shows are as much a social thing as they are retail therapy or a source for ideas. So why not have an open event around about 7pm local Figz time for people to look in, say Hi, and open a bottle of beer or a glass of wine?

These meaningful words could prove to be decisively directional in this! ;-) :xd:

I do not know the zoom issue and others, I am a bit old with technology but you could also enter the forum chat and say hello from time to time, what do you think of the idea?
Santi.

Yes Santi,
compared to the earlier days of the forum, the once so vibrant chat feature has become very quiet in recent years.
