Hello Mr C.

Nice to hear from you.

I can not make this but would have loved to have participated.

Seeing you and the sculptors at the Dioramica was like watching magic.

Best wishes,

Chris

Hi Remco
I plan to come to Arnhem. I would like to bring my castle, its inhabitants and the outsiders. Do you still have space for « bring and show »?
Also I would love to participate at the sculpting workshop
This year’s exhibit looks like being cool again

If I had to guess, I think it might be one of the finest figure-makers in all of...Eastern Europe? :D

Dear Bluefalchion,

Thanks for your interest in our workshopsubject this year.
Your request for making a video of the workshop will be, I am afraid, a difficult if not impossible task though... I think.
Our objects are so small, its hard to see them at all. :eh:
The process of making them can only be caught on film by having a camera with macro-lens 5 to 20 centimeters from the subject... which makes it impossible for half of the workshop members to see what is going on.

I think our beloved member MABO can tell you all about this. He once made an very effective and useful video about sculpting a figurine for the Cröbern diorama. I bought that video ten years ago which was my very first introduction into figure sculpting in our scale.

But you are welcome for a personal workshop as soon as the age of your children allows you to visit Amsterdam.

Michael I look forward to meet you again.

Thank you so much Mr. Dodson.

After this year you can make it yourself! :-D

poky wrote:as always I will try to make it and somehow miss it anyway

Poky I don't think the workshop is much of your interest since you are much ahead of most of us when it comes to sculpting, but I think it would be nice indeed if we can finally meet you.

Regards,

Cryns

Just 4 weeks from now...

TOOLS FOR THE FIGURINE SCULPTING WORKSHOP

For those of you who planned to participate in the workshop figurine sculpting at FIGZ 2019, I must recommend to bring the most important tool yourself:

FLAT COLOUR SHAPER SIZE 0 STIFF :
Image

The colour shaper is a rubber brush for sculpting putty, compound and clay.
You need the smallest and stiffest one, which is black and size 0.

Strangeley enough, it is very difficult to find it anywhere for sale :eh:
The only way I know of how or where to buy it, is at the online shop Green Stuff World from Spain:

http://www.greenstuffworld.com/en/sculp ... black.html

Fredericus Rex' online shop sells them, as far as I can see, only from size 1 and up. Which is big for our scale. Artists-supply shops only sell even bigger ones. I bought some 'Stiff' black colour shapers from a Chinese company which turned out to be much too soft. Usually the 'Soft' ones are grey in stead of black. The colour shapers usually come in sets of five, of which you mostly need the flat one. So try to get a FLAT STIFF BLACK COLOUR SHAPER SIZE 0 before you come to the workshop. If you don't have one in the end, you can use the old ones of mine which may be completely worn out, too big or too soft.

Of course you need many more tools but those you will not need constantly so do not buy new ones, just bring them in case you have them at home already:

A flat colour shaper, a metal dentists sculpting tool and a flattened, pointed pin or needle on a grip:

Flat and round thongs and a wire cutter:

Scissors, a needle on a grip, nail file, micro file and hobby knife:

THE WORKSHOP STARTS AT 11:00 O' CLOCK

I look forward to see you at FIGZ 2019.

This is a very exciting topic, and I am not even able to attend this year! I went down the list of what I had for tools, and what I would need. Those who can go are the lucky ones.
