Second Boer War

Very nice! Thinking of buying those Boers for my WildWest-town, but at the moment I'm somewhere between Medieval Sweden and the Crimea, with a little Asterix thrown in between.

Here are some Strelets Highland Infantry. Another really nice set by them with some good sculpting and useful poses. The photos don't really show up the work I'v tried to put in on the tartan kilts and top of the socks.

Nice painting Rich...!
Got these Scots waiting for their chance. I think it would take time to find a gap for them...

Here are some rather ugly Strelets lancers. This one of those sets I've not really enjoyed painting and I don't think the results are particularly good!

Thanks for continuing to look and provide feedback.

Personally I think you have done a good job on these chaos.

However, the usual split mould problem is the mould flash.

I use a Stanley knife blade to gently cut it off but watch out for sword hilts and your fingers!

Best wishes,

Chris

For a change of scene I thought I'd return to me collection of unstarted Boer War sets. I've just gone for a very basic basing scatter mix to keep things quick. These are British artillery from earlier stages in the war (when the officers were silly enough to be wearing their swords still).

Very fine work Rich, both in the painting and also the composition/basing of this nice little model artillery piece and its crew.

And most definitely a change from those heavy coats and wigs of the WoSS. Well done! :yeah:

Like the figures, anyway, but the canon looks a bit strange to me. Was it painted black all over at that time? Or is this metall? I am not familiar with the British colonial equipment.

I have to say that I am no expert on colonial British artillery. However, it may be that the gun was painted black, and there is a surviving 15 pounder in Australia which is painted gloss black...although this may simply be its 'display/museum' colour.

You have done a great job on these, your painting has really done wonders for the early Strelets monsters!

Thanks for your generous feedback everyone.

Mabo, if I'm honest I just guessed the colour and went for a dark grey/blue. The cannon looks better in person then the actual photos look.

I have no doubt about it. It was also really more a question.
