Some Bad News about Michigan Toy Soldier Co.

Posted by dutchboyinohio on 27 Jan 2011, 04:16

From TMP: http://theminiaturespage.com/news/191134/

According to a video news report (see link below), Rick Berry of Michigan Toy Soldier has pleaded guilty to making $189,000 USD in fraudulent charges to the credit card of film director and miniatures collector Peter Jackson..... (click link above for the full story and see also http://royaloak.patch.com/articles/roya ... e-director).

I wonder if this will be the end of Michigan Toy Soldier, which would be a real shame....

Speaking as another New Zealander who has used his services, I was completely happy with my purchases (and my credit card seemed no more drained than usual afterwards).

Not good news which ever way you look at it though.

These things happen, people will always be people. Rick Berry will go to prison, the store will probably be closed or taken over by someone else.

@maurice: Yeah, well, you can blame TMP and the Royal Oak Patch for waiting so long to publish it

I think Mr Berry has shown an incredible courage coming on here to admit his wrong doing.

I've been to many forums and when people taking advantage of others financially on a forum, they usually just diappear or find excuses.

This is the first for me... wow.

TMP started going to crap about 4-5 years ago, I wouldn't necessarily believe anything they write.

I recently made an order with MTC. Even with the bad news going around those days with friends warning and dessuading; I took the risk having had good relationship with MTC and Rick way back. Lo and behold, I received my parcel last Friday(shipping takes time as I live across the pacific). :) Thanks Rick. More power to MTC and I hope business bounces back. I will continue to patronize your store.

I'm on Rick's side for admiting his guilt and trying to solve the problem. I hope you have a lot more people on your side to help you go through it all and find yourself in a better place when everything straighted out.

I'd be happy to patronize Mich Toy, but the prices just aren't competitive. I can generally find even sale items at lower prices elsewhere.
