Currently reading Larry Alexander's "In the Footsteps of the Band of Brothers: A Return to Easy Company's Battlefields with Sergeant Forrest Guth". I've only read the first couple of chapters but it's a great read so far!

Just reading Ben Kane The Forgotten Legion from the library - first of a trilogy starting with Crassus v Parthia. Not too bad, but not a patch on Alfred Duggan...

I started reading in "The Decline of the West" from Oswald Spengler last week but I fear I'll have to stick to "Development through the Lifespan", "Human Biology", "General and Experimental Psychology" & "The Nerve Cell: Pocket Book for Neurophysiology" for now.

Almost finished reading ' Stalemate! the real story of trench warfare' by J.H. Johnson
very good book mainly deals with the British offensive effort 1915-1918.
up next is 'The German Offensives of 1918' by Martin Kitchen ed. Hew Strachan
can't wait to see how it turned out (hehe)

"The longest Day" by Cornelius Ryan
And I started reading when I was in Normandy, of course. Before that I had read "A bridge to far".
from the same author. It is interesting also to compare the books with the filmes.

MABO do you have his third book ''The Last Battle''? I always thought that would make a good movie as well. Considering how the other two turned into classic war films.

French fortresses in Franco-Prussian war during 1870-71. Very interesting reading. Especially the chapter about siege of Strasbourg.

Going through Song of Ice and Fire by George RR Martin. Going veeeeeeery slow. Just as well as the story's not finished yet (three more books planned!!!). :neutral:

Where to start? I am always bouncing around with something or another! But most recently, I finished a fictional historical novel ( like the series "Rome", it weaves the two), called "Roman Blood", and the Osprey book on the British campaign in the Sudan in the 18th century ( that I got for 1/3 the regular cost!)...

I did not get my hands on it but it is interesting and I will try to get it. Today I bought the Movie "The longest day" I try to watch it again this weekend.

Book in progress: "Liar" by Stephen Fry (I must grant I read it in Czech language :oops:

). I think that book is...Unusual and odd. I am looking forward what happens next.

The next book I would like to read is George Orwell´s Animal farm. I have read only one book by Orwell so far, 1984, and it is bloody good book.

Just finished: 'The Balkan Wars 1912-1913, prelude to the First World War' by Richard C. Hall
A short history of the conflict. An extremely good and interesting read. :-D
