Greetings to all, as the title says, I have a question regarding Napoleonic French Guard Horse Artillery uniforms, or equipment to be exactly, pre-1812.
I am a bit confused about the shape of their valise/portmanteau,
I recently bought the Italeri 6018 set, and all the saddled horses are sculpted with rectangular
valises.
My knowledge about Napoleonic era (and Guard horse artillery) is very limited, and I did my research using internet, and I only find saddles (pictures) with circular shaped valises.
As far as I know the light cavalry units used the circular type, and the heavies the rectangular, correct me if I am wrong.
and how about horse artillery?
I find posts on the forum too, the excellent from blucher1815red here for example
and I am not questioning the accuracy of that stunning work, but the valises are mixed,
so I need help to enlighten my brain.
Are Italeri 6018 valises correctly sculpted?
or
Do I have to correct the horse gunner’s and train drivers’s valise with a little Milliput?
thanks in advance
Greg
