Roman Catapults

I thought about a little scorpion-catapult on the roman trireme for the battle of Mylae diorama. The question is: Did the romans have artillery like this in the year 260 BC (first Punic war)?... and a second question: Did they already used them on their ships (if they had some artillery)?

I`m trying to make an effort to go through older posts on this Forum.So I came across this one and in light of recent research on the Roman period`s .Yes they had artillery Scorpians,( Machines invented by the Greeks) ,and other stuff too. 60 Scorpians to the average Legion. 4 shots a minute this would send 240 bolts fired into the enemy army. The weight and speed of these bolts would mean that shield and armour would offer little protection. Normally these formed batteries protecting the flanks.The firepower was devastating.



They also had much larger ones too like the one above. Sorry Ben 90,this question was placed before I became a member. Did you ever make or buy the Scorpians for your army? BB

Thank youu for the answer! I´ve already made a little catapult for the ship, finished it some days ago. Pictures tomorrow...
